2019 Fundraising Day Bursaries

AFP Fundraising Day is one of the best fundraising conferences to attend. Fundraising Day offers intensive and stimulating sessions that will provide bursary recipients with new techniques and practical theory to tackle organizational challenges and opportunities.

 

The AFP Greater Toronto Chapter recognizes the importance of creating opportunities for all sector professionals to attend Fundraising Day as a professional development opportunity. Bursaries are given to individuals who would benefit from networking with and learning best practices from some of the country’s leading fundraisers.

 

Bursaries are available to professionals working in agencies raising $1,500,000 or less per year (excluding government and/or United Way funding). Some bursaries include travel and hotel accommodations.

 

2019 bursaries are made possible through the support of our members who are donors to AFP Foundation for Philanthropy – Canada’s Every Member Campaign.

 

 

 

AFP Greater Toronto Chapter Bursary 

 

The AFP Foundation for Philanthropy — Canada supports this bursary as part of its ongoing commitment to professional development in the field of fundraising.

 

Eligibility

In order to be considered, applicants must:

  • Be currently employed and compensated at a registered Canadian charity with fundraising revenues of $1,500,000 or less (excluding government and/or United Way funding)

  • Spend a minimum of 20% of your time in fundraising activities

  • Submit the bursary application form by the given deadline

  • Submit only one application per organization (excluding national organizations, with multiple regional offices)

  • Not have received an individual bursary from AFP Greater Toronto Chapter within the last five (5) years

 

This bursary is available to both AFP Members and non-members.

Mo Davies Bursary

Mo Davies, a longtime member of AFP Greater Toronto Chapter, dedicated her fundraising career to small and mid-size organizations, helping them to raise money. Mo was always the go-to-person when it came to helping small organizations raise money – she spent hours with these small charities giving them the “TLC” they needed to pursue their own dreams of raising money for a cause they were passionate about. Mo always encouraged the importance of creating opportunities for all fundraisers and volunteers to attend Fundraising Day as a professional development opportunity to learn best practices from respected industry leaders, to network with colleagues and to develop key professional skills.

 

Before Mo passed away, she made a special request that the AFP Greater Toronto Chapter award one bursary to an individual who works at a small charity in the Greater Toronto area – small charity defined as no more than two fundraisers on staff or contracted to do work for a small organization.

The AFP Foundation for Philanthropy – Canada supports this bursary as part of its ongoing commitment to professional development in the field of fundraising.

 

Eligibility

In order to be considered, applicants must:

  • Currently work or volunteer in a registered Canadian charity

  • The charity must have no more than two fundraisers on staff or contract

  • Have fundraising as at least 20% of your current position’s mandate

  • Not have received a bursary from AFP within the past five (5) years

  • Must be able to demonstrate financial need on part of  organization and/or the lack of a professional development budget for the organization’s fundraising department

 

This bursary is available to AFP members and non-members.
